In the 1960s, DuPont began to research para-aramid, and achieved industrialization in 1972. In 1973, it was officially named Aramid Kevlar®. Since then, DuPont has monopolized the para-aramid market for more than 10 years.


Kevlar is aramid, a brand name of DuPont. Please be careful when using it. This means that some of their structures are the same, and they roughly meet the definition of aramid. From their structural formulas, it seems that the difference lies in the type of co-condensed diamine. The diamine used in the synthesis of Kevlar is p-phenylenediamine.
