Birla Carbon growing around sustainability, big ideas

I think it is an absolute criticality to address climate change."

So, when you see Birla Carbon investing in operations, growing its manufacturing footprint and introducing new products- -those made from recycled and blo- based feedstocks, as well as products that provide better performance, greater longevity or carbon emissions reductions throughout their lifetimes- -you can bet that it's all part of a bigger, more sustainable picture.

"We continue to invest heavily in our core business, which is built around that foundation of operational excellence," Loudermilk said. "And we continue to support our core markets and customers while we significantly increase our research and development in a variety of innovation pathways to drive technologies and materials that are focused on sustainability objectives, either for Birla Carbon as a company- such as reaching net zero, limiting our carbon emissions -or for our value chains to decarbonize."

Those pathways lead in a number of directions, whether its harnessing the potential of end-of-life tires through recovered carbon black or building its carbon nanotube expertise.

"Bio-based feedstocks, oils from pyrolysis and recovering materials from end-of-life tires fits that category. We are very focused on research in that space," Loudermilk said. "We are utilizing those materials today as both feedstocks and energy inputs.
